VidPlaza.live (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the live video collaboration platform at vidplaza.live. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.
Information We Collect
- Account information you provide (display name, email, permanent handler such as
@username, profile details) - Content you upload or stream (videos, thumbnails, live sessions)
- Friend requests, group memberships, join requests, transfer/takeover offers you send or receive
- Camera and app preferences you save (for example, whether your camera starts on or off)
- Optional short stage-camera and Go Live clips you choose to save to Past Feeds (see Past Feeds)
- Presence and Video Inbox metadata needed to show online status and deliver private video messages or calls
- Technical data (IP address, browser type, device information, cookies)
- Usage data (pages visited, features used, interactions in live spaces)
- Beta-program records when you volunteer as a tester (see Beta Program below)
Accounts, Passwords & Social Login
When you create an account we collect your email, chosen username, and securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We never store your Google password. Beta access codes are stored only to verify eligibility for early features.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the VidPlaza service
- To enable live collaboration, video uploads, groups, Public Square, and platform features
- To show onboarding guidance, settings, and optional interface hints you choose to enable
- To process friend requests, group joins, and related notifications
- To communicate with you about updates or support
- For security and to prevent abuse
- To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense on vidplaza.live for regular users who have not purchased ad-free access
Public Square, Groups & Camera
Public Square is a shared live space on VidPlaza. You choose whether to opt in. Your camera is off by default when you join or log in unless you turn it on or change that preference in Settings. Live video in Square may be visible to other users in that space. Real-time video in Square and private Video Inbox calls may be routed through our video infrastructure partners (for example LiveKit) solely to connect participants.
Private and public groups have their own membership and privacy rules. Group owners may receive join requests, transfer offers, or takeover requests depending on group settings. Ownership handoffs may recompute free versus paid group slots for the receiving account (see Terms — Customized Groups).
Video Inbox & Presence
Video Inbox (video messages and one-to-one video calls) is private between connected friends. Message metadata and short video blobs you send may be stored on VidPlaza infrastructure (including Supabase) so delivery works across devices. One-to-one calls use real-time infrastructure (for example LiveKit); camera starts off until you turn it on; microphone typically starts on and can be muted.
Presence (online / away / offline style status) is used so friends can see availability for calls and feeds. Heartbeats are not fine-grained location tracking. Leaving Public Square does not by itself stop presence heartbeats needed for Video Inbox.
Past Feeds & Stage Camera Saves
When you are on stage with your camera on, VidPlaza may record a short local clip so you can choose to save it to Past Feeds (or delete it). Saving is optional. Free stage saves follow product retention rules (typically short windows such as about 24 hours unless a paid vault or longer tier applies when offered).
Clip metadata (title, space, owner labels, timestamps, retention) may be stored in our database. Short stage-camera media files may be stored on our servers (including a Supabase-backed blob store) so the same clip can play on vidplaza.live and other browsers — not only on the device that recorded it. Go Live recordings may additionally use our partner Mux for hosted playback. Personal, Square communal, and group-shared libraries have different visibility rules (see Terms — Past Feeds).
Video replies on feed tiles (when enabled on a clip) are short video responses under that clip — not private DMs. Reply media and metadata follow the same visibility as the parent clip (for example, a private group library stays members-only; a public VidPlaza’s Feeds clip remains public on that post). We may store reply blobs, sender and owner creative IDs, optional friend tags, and unread notification state so clip owners and tagged friends can be notified (toast and library bang). Opening the reply stack marks those notifications read for that clip. Only the reply sender or the parent clip owner may delete a reply.
Beta Program
If you sign up for beta testing, we may store your signup email, display name, handler, approval status, temporary beta code used at signup, and coarse activity timestamps (such as login or session start) to operate the beta program and thank volunteers. Pending requests are synced to a shared queue so the VidMaster can approve them. If email confirmation is required, your beta request is recorded when your account is created and is reconciled when you log in after confirming your email.
This is not fine-grained surveillance. The VidMaster may export aggregated beta activity for program management. If you are removed from beta and returned to a regular account, you receive an in-app notice with community contact options.
In-App Feedback
When you submit feedback through Settings, we store your note, optional screenshot, handler, email (if available), display name, submission timestamp, and whether the note came from a beta or regular account. The VidMaster exports feedback for offline review, then clears the active queue. Cleared notes are removed from live storage; exported copies may be purged within about 24 hours. Timestamps help the operator thank volunteers fairly as the program grows. Do not include passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal data in feedback.
Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in and improve the experience. Google AdSense may use cookies to serve and measure ads. You can learn more at Google's advertising policy.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
VidPlaza uses Google AdSense on the live site (vidplaza.live) for regular users who have not purchased ad-free access. The VidMaster and approved beta testers do not see these placements.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Regular users may also hide ads by purchasing Remove Google AdSense in Settings (see Terms — Remove AdSense). Our ads.txt file lists authorized ad sellers.
Payments (Stripe) & Products Add-on
VidPlaza may offer optional paid features in Settings → Products Add-on — such as longer session recording saves, removing Google AdSense, extra live participant slots, multistream destinations, customized groups, and My Recording Vault. The free 5-minute Go Live save remains available without purchase. Checkout on vidplaza.live is processed by Stripe with live billing when Products Add-on is open — real cards are charged. Verified purchases may be logged server-side (for example in Supabase) as well as in browser storage for entitlements.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe receives the information needed to complete the transaction.
For ad-free purchases, we store an entitlement (such as an expiry date) on your account in browser storage and may record purchase metadata through Stripe. We do not receive your full card number from Stripe.
Group Mux Go Live sessions may be processed and stored by our video infrastructure partner Mux. Free saves are up to 5 minutes with 24-hour access. Paid recording tiers extend save length and Mux access windows when checkout is open. Longer hosting on VidPlaza via My Recording Vault is a separate add-on when launched. See Terms — Session Recording and My Recording Vault.
Past Feeds indexes and optional short stage-camera media files may be stored as described under Past Feeds & Stage Camera Saves.
Optional multistream destinations (when launched) may connect your live session to third-party platforms you authorize. We will describe what data is shared with those platforms before the feature is billed.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, video infrastructure, authentication, payments)
- Law enforcement when required by US law
Your Rights
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page (see Account Deletion below). You can also request access to your data through Settings → Community & Feedback → Community feedback (beta testers: Settings → Beta Testing → Beta testing feedback).
Account Deletion
You may delete your VidPlaza account at any time through the Settings page.
When you delete your account:
- All your personal information, videos, live session data, and settings will be permanently deleted.
- Deleted accounts and data cannot be recovered — not even by the VidMaster.
- Once deletion is confirmed, your account and all associated data will be removed from our systems.
We recommend downloading any content you wish to keep before deleting your account.
Children’s Privacy
VidPlaza is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
